During the weekend I got to meet and train for Ellis Amdur
( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellis_Amdur ) who is a big budo inspirer for me.
Ellis started training Aikido in 1973 and is a shihan in two traditional koryu (Tenshin Bukō-ryū Heihō and Araki-ryū),
Ellis Amdur is the author of several books on the martial arts (Dueling With O-Sensei, Grappling with the Myth of the Warrior Sage. Hidden in Plain Sight, Esoteric Power Training within Japanese Martial Traditions. Old School, Essays on Japanese Martial Traditions. The Phenomenologist, Interview with Ellis Amdur.)
If you are interested in budo, I recommend these books and they are available at: https://www.amazon.se/s?i=stripbooks…
A big thank you to Per Eriksson who invited Ellis Amdur.
Shihan, Per Eriksson has been my Budo teacher at Karlskoga Folkhögskola for 3 years where I studied the Distance Course, Koryu Jujutsu/Bujutsu. The Koryu school that is trained on the course is Yagyu Shingan Ryu. The course literature is Hidden in Plain Sight – Esoteric power training within Japanese martial arts. Written by Ellis Amdur. A fantastic book that describes Morihei Ueshiba’s strength and explains where Aikido’s ”Internal Power” principles come from.
Since we studied Ellis Amdur’s books on the Budo course, it was extra exciting to meet, listen and train for him.
If you are interested in the Budo course, more info is available here: https://karlskogafolkhogskola.se/…/koryu-jujutsu-bujutsu/
