An intensive and rewarding week has now come to an end: Uchi deshi week 28 and the Aikido Friendship Seminar,
under the guidance of Lars‑Göran Andersson, 7th dan; Mark Larson, 7th dan; and Niklas Björklund, 6th dan.
Nineteen years ago, the very first Friendship Seminar was held in Torsby by Lasse Sensei and Mark Sensei. Since then, this unique exchange has continued to thrive, alternating between Sweden and the USA, with one occasion in Japan. This event has grown into a long‑standing collaboration founded on friendship and a shared dedication to the tradition of Iwama Aikido.
This year’s seminar brought together 50 participants, of whom 20 also took part in the soto deshi / uchi deshi week held in connection with the event. Over the course of eight intensive days, a total of 32 training sessions were conducted, characterized by depth and a strong sense of community.
To be able to carry this tradition forward is both an honor and a source of inspiration. It would not be possible without the commitment, presence, and wholehearted engagement of everyone involved. Our sincere thanks go to all who participated in the soto / uchi deshi week and the seminar.
We would also like to extend our warmest congratulations to Marlene Sonnleitner on the successful Shodan examination — a significant milestone, achieved through dedication and sincere practice.
